Immersed in Texture and Light: Highlights from the Pierre Soulages Museum


As our vacation was coming to an end, we decided to take a little detour to the charming town of Rodez — and it turned out to be one of the most inspiring stops of the trip. Our main goal was to visit the impressive Pierre Soulages Museum, a true gem dedicated to the work of the renowned French artist often called the “painter of black”whose deeply tactile, handcrafted approach to art creates powerful, textured experiences.

We opted for the two-hour architecture and collection tour, which proved to be a fantastic way to dive deep into both the museum’s striking design and Soulages’ captivating artworks. The building itself is a masterpiece — bold, modern, and perfectly suited to showcase the powerful pieces inside.
